When, after arriving at Heathrow airport, you want to travel to London, go to the taxi stands outside of the Terminal buildings. Do not make use of taxi services that are offered to you in the terminal building. This practice is known as touting and is illegal. Make sure that the taxi driver is licensed. This can be checked by looking for a PCO license or temporary license. Licensed drivers will wear a metal badge.
Fares
Taxi fares change depending on the time of the day, speed and distance travelled. You will be charged more in the evenings, during the weekend and at Bank Holidays. Fares and extra charges should always be displayed on the meter next to the driver. You can expect the fare for a trip between Heathrow Airport and central London to be between £40 and £75. This is for a trip that will last 30 to 60 minutes. The minimum fare for a taxi is £2.20 at all times.
Airport Transfer
It is also possible to pre-book taxis to transport you to the airport and pick you up on arrival after your journey. There are different companies that offer these services. Fares will vary depending on the type of transport and length of the journey. |
